We invite you to explore new ways to love yourself this month: take a healing bath, sip some soothing tea, and join one of our community events or classes if you feel like sharing the love.
Did you know February 9th is National Read in the Bathtub Day? Try adding 2 cups of Epsom salts and 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil for a relaxing bath that will help your body unwind and naturally detox.
A couple great healing books you could take in the bath with you are: The Art of Happiness by the 14th Dalai Lama and Howard Cutler and Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brene Brown. Both of these books help open your heart and mind to new ways of thinking and being that help facilitate healing, from the inside out.
The reason I recommend Epsom salts in the bath is because they help draw out unhealthy toxins from your system in a gentle way. Epsom salts are made up of two ingredients: magnesium and sulfate. These two ingredients combined with warm water help your body detox. Be sure the water is not too hot as that can dry out the skin. Putting Epsom salts in your bath benefits you by:
- Relaxing your body and helping with stress relief
- Soothing your skin
- Reducing muscle soreness and pain
I recommend taking a 20–30-minute Epsom salt and essential oil bath once a week for releasing toxins and calming the mind. Be well!
